Last night the governor appeared at Lumbertown at Pine Beach for a dinner and the dedication of the new East Gull Lake Airport. at the airport Governor [Elmer L.] Anderson, in a plane piloted by Buzz Ruttger, taxied through a ribbon to officially open the airport.
A short speech was given at the airport to about 500 people by Croil Hunter, chairman of the board for North Central Airlines. The Governor then presented the license for the new airport to Ping Purington, clerk of East Gull Lake.
The Governor and his family stayed overnight at Ben Curry's Island View Resort. The Anderson family will remain at the resort until Sunday morning.
